Elementary Art Classes:

Elementary students will have lots of fun as they are introduced to basic techniques and elements of art. Students will learn to draw, cut, paste, paint, and color. They will use a variety of mediums, including crayons, markers, colored pencils, watercolors, tempera paint, and oil pastels. They will learn to identify lines, shapes, forms, colors, values, textures, and spaces in artwork. Older elementary students will begin to experiment with creativity and expressiveness in their artwork. The emphasis for all levels of elementary art is to have fun while experimenting with the process of creating art!

9th Grade Art:

This year-long visual art class will fulfill the high school graduation requirement for fine art. During the first semester, students will engage in an in-depth study of the elements of art. With a focus on identifying and defining the elements of art, students will learn how the elements of artwork together form the basic foundations of all artwork. During the second semester of this class, the students will learn how to identify and use the principles of design to plan and organize the elements of art in their artwork. Many mediums will be explored as students create two-dimensional works of art and learn about art history and theory.

Elective Art Classes:

These art classes are open to middle school students and high school students according to their schedules. As indicated, these classes are elected by the students. Elective art students are expected to take a serious interest in learning more about art. They will improve the techniques and skills used to create unique and expressive works of art. During this class, various mediums will be used to create two and three-dimensional works of art.
